Our Royal History
The Royal Oak in Weston Village, Runcorn dates back to 1865 and has a history tied to the local community.
While it is a historic pub, it is distinct from other establishments with "Royal" in their name in Runcorn and other towns.
- Construction and first licensee: A stone with the inscription "TC 1865" was uncovered during a refurbishment. This refers to the date of the pub's construction and its first licensee, Thomas Carson, who was from Enniskillen, Ireland, and ran the pub from 1865 to 1874.
- Location: The pub is situated on Lambsickle Lane in the village of Weston, near the Mersey Estuary. Its location on the old Heath Road South places it among other historic Runcorn pubs.
- Community hub: The Royal Oak has a long history as a community local, serving residents of the village. It has hosted bar games, live sports, and charity events, all of which contribute to its status as a gathering place.
